Techconsult UK, based at the Wilton Centre, near Redcar, has supported the Materials Processing Institute’s (MPI) expansion.
Bosses at MPI, which operates from a site near Middlesbrough, wanted staff for its commercial team, and approached Techconsult, which finds workers for roles in the process, oil and gas, renewable and subsea sectors.
The MPI says the move sustained plans to strengthen research services and provide extra help for smaller companies to develop technology.
The recruitment drive has seen MPI’s marketing manager Andrew Cargill join alongside Andrea Parr, business development manager for the chemicals and process sectors.
Dawn Huntrod has also been appointed as business development manager to look after the newly-formed SME Technology Centre.
Techconsult is now searching for another business development manager with energy and engineering experience.
Chris McDonald, MPI chief executive, said: “The appointments are helping to establish the institute on both a national and international basis and are integral to our future growth.
Steve Guest, Techconsult UK managing director, said the partnership offers optimism in an area hit by job cuts.
He added: “The MPI’s plans to diversify is a really positive story at a time when Teesside and the wider region is still reeling from the closure of the SSI plant in Redcar.
“There are lots of fantastic businesses in the North-East that are developing some really exciting products and our skills mean we can find the right people to help them remain in the North-East and grow.”
